Q: What is Pet Friendly Rentals?
A: PetFriendlyRentals.co.uk is the UK’s premier rental accommodation website exclusively for pets and their owners. We cover rental properties throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our site contains two databases. The first is a database of rental properties within the UK that allow pets, with adverts from both private landlords and lettings agents. These will range from a room to let (Pet friendly lodgings) to detached country farm houses. The second is a database of dog friendly holidays, with accommodation ranging from self catering cottages to hotel rooms and caravans, all of which have a pets welcome policy.
Q: How up to date are the rental listings?
A: All advertisers have there own account on the website to enable them to add or edit adverts at any point in time. We encourage all advertisers to inform us when their property has been let; this will prevent unnecessary phone calls or emails. (Rental properties)
Q: Where do you get your listings?
A: Anyone with a pet friendly property can advertise with us. Some of the adverts are from private landlords and some are from letting agents on behalf of the landlords. We continually search for pet friendly landlords who would like to advertise on our site, whether it is a property to let or holiday properties that allow pets.
Q: What types of properties do you list?
A: If you are looking for a rental property that allows pets, we aim to have listings of all types of accommodation from lodgings to houses & flats.
If you are looking for a holiday accommodation in the UK where dogs are welcome, we aim to have listings of self catering cottages, holiday caravan parks, camp sites, hotels, bed and breakfast’s & Inns.
Q: What are the benefits of listing my property with Pet Friendly Rentals?
A: Pet friendly rentals will be looked at by thousands of pet owners throughout the UK for both rental properties and holiday accommodation. By accepting pets you are doubling your rental potential as over 50% of UK households own pets. To see more benefits and tips please read Why Accept a Pet.
Q: Who will see my listings?
A: There are over 18 million pet owning households in the UK, many of these will be searching our database for either a long term home to rent, or a short term holiday accommodation. We aim to advertise our services in as many pet friendly locations as possible, these would include; Dog Magazines, Pet websites, Animal Rescue Centres etc. We also aim to appear high in the internet search facility.
Finding An Accommodation
Q: We are looking for a rental property in Ashford in the County of Kent. It is to house ourselves and our dog and cat. Do you have anything specific in that area?
A: We have a large database of properties for rent in all areas of the country, it is best to use our user friendly property search form. First select that you are looking for a rental property and not a holiday let, then type in your chosen area in the box provided (The area can be either a County or a Town). Tick the boxes for the pets you would like to find a home for. With all these fields complete, click the search button; you will now have our current list of properties in your chosen area that are willing to accept your pets. If no properties are found in a specific town, try searching just your chosen County. You could also use our other search options if you require a more detailed search e.g. your maximum cost per week or the type of property you would like to rent.
Q: I have found a property through your site, but the landlord wasn’t very happy to take my breed of dog. What can I do?
A: Look at our tenants tips at ways to encourage the landlord to accept your dog. If you are confident your dog is not going to be a nuisance, offer a larger deposit.
Q: I have found a property on your site which said it accepted dogs, but when I phoned the landlord he said he had changed his mind. What can I do?
A: Please contact us with the details and we will contact the advertiser to find out the reasons for this, and correct his advert accordingly. If he is no longer willing to accept any pets, we will remove his advert from our site.
Q: Whilst searching for a property for my cat and small animal, I selected all of the boxes for types of pet, but the search results were limited. What can I do?
A: It is best when carrying out a search, to only select the type of pets that you actually have as the results show exact matches only i.e. Cat and Small Animals in your case.
Q: How much does it cost to advertise?
A: We aim to keep our costs as low as possible to encourage clients to our site. Our current prices can be found by clicking the click here to advertise link on the home page.
You can submit your advert online via our secure server, or, if you would like one of our team members to list an advert on your behalf, please email email@example.com for a quote.
Q: What methods of payment do you accept?
A: Payments can be made by debit/credit card online or over the phone, PayPal account, BACS payment, or by cheque/postal order (via the post). Adverts will not be activated on our site until we have received cleared funds.
Adding Your Pet Friendly Accommodation
Q: How does your service work?
A: If you decide you would like to advertise your property online, please follow the online instructions. Once your advert has been submitted and payment has been received, it will then be forwarded to one of our team members. It is their job to proof read your advert(s) before it is submitted live on the internet.
Q: How easy is it to list a rental property / accommodation?
A: We have designed this site to be easy to use even for a novice computer user, just follow the prompts.
Q: How do I add photos and how many can I add.
A: Follow the online instructions; you can add a minimum of 3 photos up to a maximum of 8. Each of these photos will need to be in JPEG format and no bigger than 2Mb; preferred size being 640 X 480
Q: I don’t have a digital camera, how can I put a photo on?
A: Try to borrow a digital camera from a friend or try scanning a photo on to our site. If you are unable to do this, please send us your photo’s in the post and we will scan them on for you. Please note that the quality of scanned photos will not be as good as a digital photo.
Q: How quickly will my advert appear?
A: Once your listing has been approved by one of our team members, we aim to have your advert activated within 24 hours. However during busy periods or if errors are found on your listing, there may be delays. If any problems with the listing are found, you will be contacted by email as soon as possible. Payment is to be received in full, before your advert is approved.
Q: How long will my listing run?
A: If you are a private landlord and list a rental property on this site, the advert will last for 60 days or until let. If you are an agent with multiple listings (max 20 properties), your subscription will last for 12 months, although this can be extended to a time frame that suits you, (please contact us for a quote). If you list a holiday accommodation your advert will last for 1 Year (365days). An email reminder will be sent when your subscription is due to run out and you can choose whether or not you wish to renew it.
Q: My advert hasn’t appeared, even though I have paid my subscription and submitted my advert?
A: Each property advert is checked by a team member of pet friendly rentals, for any discrepancies before it appears on the website. If your advert has not appeared after 24 hours of the advert being submitted, please contact us by email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Q: Can I stipulate the quantity of each type of pet I wish to allow?
A: Yes. You can if you wish. Just put the information within your property details. Remember you must allow a minimum of 1 dog for holiday lets, and a minimum of 1 small animal for long term lets.
Q: Can adverts only be created online?
A: We would prefer this in the first instant. However we are happy to input your details on to our site on your behalf. Please contact us for an advertising pack and details of current charges relating to this service.
Q: I have noticed an error or would like to edit my listing, can I change it?
A: Yes, you will have your own personal login details and password. This means that your online property advert can be edited at any time.
Q: I have forgotten my password?
A: If you forget your password, please click the password reminder button on the login page. A reminder prompt will then be sent to you via email. You can if you wish change your password to something more memorable.
Q: I no longer wish to allow pets into my property as we have had a bad experience, Can I still advertise my property with you?
A: We are sorry that you encountered a problem with your pet friendly rental property. You could always stipulate a well behaved pet only in the future. Unfortunately we only advertise properties that are willing to accept pets. Why accept pets.
Q: Do I receive a letting board?
A: No, as this site is purely a form of advertising your property and we are not a letting agent, no board will be provided.
Q: I am already using a letting agent; can I advertise my property with you?
A: Yes you can, but it is worth telling your letting agent that you are advertising your property elsewhere. Remember to mention petfriendlyrentals.co.uk
Q: My property did not let, or was let through an agent or a different site, do I get a refund?
A: No, sorry but the fees for advertising on this site are to cover administration costs and will not be refunded. We are sorry that your property did not let through our site. It could be for many difference reasons e.g. If you have limited the pets that you accept, or the price is too high etc.
Q: Can I advertise my other services through your site?
A: Yes, but not through a property listing. If you want to advertise any services through our site e.g. Banner or link, please contact us at: email@example.com . We are always happy to do a free link exchange to other sites that are relevant to ours.
Q: Can I add link text
A: Yes on holiday accommodation adverts. For homes to rent adverts, please contact us for more information as there may be a charge. All External website links must be approved and created by one of our team members only. We have the right to remove any website link that we feel is inappropriate.
Q: Are my personal details secure?
Q: How will people contact me?
A: On your listing you will need to provide an email address, which can be a hidden link if required (recommended). You can also provide a Telephone Number if you wish people to call you directly?
Pet Friendly Rentals Privacy Service(NOT IN USE)
Q: What is the PetFriendlyRentals Privacy Service (in short PPS)?
A: This service is designed to keep our advertisers private numbers hidden from public view. Advertisers that use our privacy service are simply given a unique number that is forwarded to their own home phone or mobile, this enables them to still receive relevant enquiries directly. We believe this is a good step to keep our advertisers personal details private and stop unsolicited calls.
Q: How does it work?
A: Advertisers that use our privacy service, we simply replace their phone number with either a 0871 number or 070 number. When the advertiser receives a call through the privacy number supplied the call is automatically redirected to their own phone number, keeping their own number confidential.
Q: How much does it cost to have a PPS number?
A: There is no charge to the advertiser to have a PPS number or to have it re-directed to their own private number (Geographical number or mobile).
All advertisers placing a free advert will be issued with a PPS number; advertisers placing a paid advert, the PPS number is optional; we do recommend that all advertisers use this service as a way of keeping their personal numbers private and to help cut down on unwanted telephone calls from canvassers
Q: How much would a call to a PPS number cost?
A: Calls via our privacy service (0871 numbers) calls cost 10p a minute at all times. (0704 numbers) calls cost 35p a minute at all times. (0705 numbers) the cost is 50p a minute at all times. Note! costs shown are from a standard BT phone line, other operators and mobile phone rates will vary according to your operator. All service providers are obliged to make their call charges readily available to their customers.
The 0871 & 070 numbers are mostly used on our free advertisements, if you see the text Privacy Service next to a number within an advert, then calls to this number will be charged as above.
Pet Friendly Rentals receives a small proportion of this revenue; this helps us to maintain the high quality of adverts on our website, this in turn gives you a wider choice of pet friendly accommodation to choose from in all area’s of the UK. We will do our best to make sure that all adverts are up to date and we have the latest information regarding the acceptance of pets. If you do not wish to make a call to this number, you can simply email us or choose one of our paid advertiser's who does not have an 0871 or 070 number. It is worth remembering that many of the holidays on this website come direct from the property owner, which means there are no booking fees to pay. If you book through an agency you may have to pay a booking fee which is normally around £20. So 3 calls to locate a privately owned property may only cost you £1.50 (saving £18.50) NEW for 2012 - 80% of the revenue from our privacy service will be donated to nominated pet charities.
