The 17thC Old Bakery is situation in the grounds of Town End Farm which lies on the edge of the ancient village of Crowcombe in the heart of the Quantock Hills, the first area in Britain designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

There is a footpath directly opposite the farm entrance which leads right up to the top of the hills and across the surrounding countryside which has changed very little from the days when it inspired the romantic poets Coleridge and Wordsworth. Just a few minutes walk will take you into the heart of the village, where you will find the village church, shop with Post Office and also the excellent pub, The Carew Arms

The Old Bakery is perfect for the traditional summer holiday or for short breaks any time of the year. The property has two double bedrooms - one kingsize bedroom with en-suite including a free-standing bath with shower attachment, and one twin bedded double bedroom with separate shower/wc. The property has access to a large garden, oil-fired central heating and a log burner. Baby equipment can be supplied by arrangement.

Guests staying in The Old Bakery can enjoy full use of a large games barn with pool table, table tennis, darts and table football. We keep a small selection of outdoor play equipment for young children. Transportation for the setting down and collection of guests and their bikes can be arranged. The properties have adjacent paddocks and stabling for anyone who wants to bring horses.

The Old Bakery living room has french doors to a small patio area and a short flight of steps leading up to a good sized cottage garden. Guests also have use of the owners large gardens which are adjacent to the Old Bakery. There is a cosy log burner to tempt you in on those chilly winter nights. A large kitchen/dining room. Still on the ground floor we have a twin-bedded room with french doors leading to the small patio area and garden and a shower room with enclosed cubicle and loo. On the first floor there is a very large bedroom with a king-size bed and ample room for a cot. This room has an en-suite bathroom with a cast iron roll top bath and shower attachment, a basin and loo.

Local Area - The Quantock Hills are a paradise for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Crowcombe is in the heart of this stunning AONB and surrounded by heavily wooded combes and valleys. The hills are full of wild life, including red deer and wild Quantock ponies.

The Romantic poets Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Wordsworth lived here for a time and Coleridge's old cottage which is nearby Nether Stowey is now run by the National Trust. Wordsworth lived just a few miles away at Alfoxton House, on the edge of the picturesque village of Holford.

Stunning local coastline with breathtaking views across the Bristol Channel to Wales. Dunster with its famous castle. Local family beaches include Minehead with its family entertainments and sandy beach and Kilve which is a fossil hunters joy, the children just love it. Dunster with its famous castle is nearby. Catch a steam train from Crowcombe Heathfield Station (2m) and travel the longest steam line in the country. Visit glorious wild Exmoor and its stunning North Coast around Lynton and Lynmouth and so much more
