Stunning dog friendly holiday barn in Smarden near Ashford. Thatched 17th-century Kent barn has a plethora of beams and vaulted entrance hall. A detached holiday let ideally situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Smarden - whose name is derived from the Saxon ‘Smeredaenne’, meaning butter valley and pasture. The holiday property has additional family room and an open-tread oak staircase which leads to a galleried mezzanine floor, where games facilities can be found.

Smarden was once a Kent village thriving on the wool industry, and is now a sleepy backwater of old England, so classically Kentish that it is sometimes in film sets. In the heart of the village is a cluster of half-timbered houses with Kent peg tiled roofs. Golf can be found locally as well as fishing by arrangement.

Entrance hall with vaulted ceiling and stone floor. Open-plan vaulted living/dining room with low doorway to vaulted kitchen/breakfast room with gas range (for cooking) and stone floor. Vaulted family room with stone floor and step to living/dining room.

First floor: Partially vaulted master double bedroom with four-poster bed, additional day bed (for +1) and en-suite bathroom with free standing bath, separate shower cubicle and toilet. Vaulted double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. Further double bedroom with zip & link bed. Twin bedroom with low doorway. Open-tread oak staircase to galleried games room and sofa-bed (for +1). Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. Most rooms with oak floor.
